Lake District Photographer captures beautiful bridal wedding dresses during a styled shoot at Storrs Hall, Windermere
Storrs Hall is situated in the heart of the stunning vistas and fells of the Lake District. On the shores of Lake Windermere overlooking Bowness and Coniston the setting could not get any better for your wedding day.
A brief History of Storrs Hall – The Perfect Lake District Wedding Venue
The historic mansion, with its grand Georgian roots was built in 1790’s. It stands with grace and dignity alongside Lake Windermere, a magnificent stretch of glittering water, with bays and islands, which has stirred some of the greatest masters of lyrical English language.
Writers and poets such as William Wordsworth and Robert Southey were all guests in the hotel during its private ownership heyday.
Each bedroom has a private bathroom, and are ideally suited to your mornings getting ready during the bridal preparations. Ample space and well lit by huge bay windows make it perfect for your photographer, make up artist and hair dresser.
With its elegant and comfortable soft furnishing and fittings and breath-taking views, Storrs Hall, possibly the best address in the Lake District, is an outstanding English hotel. Like others venues in this sector, it possesses that special something which can only come from a sense of history and a top drawer pedigree, embellished by an undoubted style, first rate cuisine and a polished sense of direction.
It awaits those who seek something really special.
The Wedding Day – Capturing your Lake District Wedding
We arrived at Storrs Hall for our planned bridal dress shoot with Miss Lancashire Finalist Elle Finch. After deciding on which dress we would use – choosing a lovely fitting slim fishtail dress we started off in the bridal suite capturing various images with the sun streaming through the windows. Backlighting and fill flashing using my Off Camera Flash and light stands to create some truly stunning photographs.
Black and White worked really well and enabled me to capture the venue perfectly along with the exquisite details in the dresses which were provided by Debonair Brides.
We headed down into the drawing room via the beautiful wooden staircases using various iconic features on the wedding venue to our photographic advantage. The natural light streaming through the various large windows with views over the lawns to the lake made it very difficult to stop taking photographs!
After various indoor photos we headed out onto the lawn just before the sun started to set over the snow covered fells. We also decided to add in a veil with the intention of it catching the low warm light from the ‘golden hour’ sun.
The lawns with the hotel in the background are perfect for lifestyle wedding photography and capturing images of your bridesmaids & ushers together.
Wrapping up the shoot with the amazing sunset backdrop and using the flashguns to create striking and creative photographs in the Stone Chapel at the bottom of the Storrs Hall grounds. It is the ideal place for your intimate Bride and Groom couple photographs especially in the evening after the wedding breakfast.
