First West Tower Wedding with the Fuji XT-2
Here is my latest wedding blog from Kelly and Ryan’s special day at West Tower. This is my first blog in a while due to peak wedding season and moving house so there will be a few more blogs to follow!
This was the first wedding I photographed after I replaced my Canon DSLR Equipment for the new Fuji Mirrorless set up so this blog is a little review of how I got on with it.
The day started off in Banks at Kelly’s house, the whole bridal party was very relaxed and the great light streaming in through the windows from the stunning summer sunshine outside was fantastic.
I shot the whole bridal prep using the Fuji XF 10-24mm F4 R OIS lens which gave me a brand new perspective I hadn’t previously had with my Canon lenses, the super wide angle view and vari angle screen on the camera allowed for some nice new angles to my work even in tight spaces and bedrooms allowing me to capture more of the action from above.
Steve from Churchtown Wedding Cars arrived in his beautiful Beauford Tourer Wedding Car to pick the bride up and take her to West Tower.

After a short drive over to West Tower whilst waiting for Kelly to arrive with mother and brother the family pooch arrived ready for a big surprise that even the best man had no idea about.
Tied around the collar was the wedding rings! None of the guests were aware that Kelly and Ryan had been working hard to train the dog to bring the rings down the isle on the big day…. and I am happy to say, the plan worked and the rings made it down the isle!
After a major downpour just after the service I managed to capture some amazing images of the couple and the guests using off camera flashes to highlight the stunning contrast of clouds and blue sky for a fantastic backdrop.
The Fuji performed great here, not using the Off Camera Flash’s on a shoot since the Canon they operated much the same with every shot that was fired coming out fantastic! The best thing about the Fuji is the Electronic Viewfinder showing you the images as you are taking them so you can be sure the shot is perfect before moving on to the next!
